Older properties run the risk of becoming stranded assets due to ESG requirements, because they slip into energy efficiency class F or worse, so that refurbishments do not pay off. According to a survey by Aurelius subsidiary Aurepa and PwC, two-thirds of asset managers fear this. Just under a third of them have 50 to 75% non-ESG-compliant properties in their portfolios.
